Thirty professionals in Acupuncture from Brazil, Argentina and United States made the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) International Professional Proficiency Exam, in the Rio de Janeiro city, on 19th and 20th June, and in São Paulo city, on 27th and 28th June. The first Exam occurred in the Convention Center of Brazilian College of Surgeons in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and the second the Brazilian College Auditorium of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (ABACO / CBA), in São Paulo.
The examination was conducted by the Academic Director of the WFAS, Dr. Liu Wei Wang along with the Vice President of WFAS in Brazil, Dr. Hui Qing, and the Deputy Director of WFAS in Brazil, Dr. Sohaku Bastos.
Since 2006, WFAS has been conducting the International Professional Proficiency Examination in Brazil, having approved some of the country acupuncturists, who obtained the certificate of approval. That examination has aroused great interest, including obtaining the support of the President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff.
The first examination of WFAS was held in China and had great international repercussion with great impact with the delegates of the WFAS, causing many people express the desire to submit to the Exam.
The Vice-President of WFAS in Brazil and President of the Brazilian Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (AMCT), Dr. Hui Qin, and the Deputy Director of WFAS in Brazil and President of the Brazilian College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (ABACO/CBA), Dr. Sohaku Bastos, said it is necessary to strengthen the International Professional Proficiency Exam of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) in Brazil, improving the academic level of Acupuncture in neighboring countries in South America.
